BYD Pakistan is sweetening the deal for buyers of its newly launched Shark 6 PHEV — the country’s first plug-in hybrid pickup — by throwing in a complimentary 7kW home charger for those who place their order before August 17.
The promotion is clearly aimed at jumpstarting sales of the premium hybrid truck, which hit the local market only last month. Priced at Rs. 19.95 million with booking starting from Rs. 3.95 million, the Shark 6 PHEV enters a niche segment in Pakistan, blending rugged utility with electric-era technology.
Performance Meets Efficiency
Under the hood, the Shark 6 pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid engine with two permanent-magnet synchronous motors, producing 321 kW and 650 Nm of torque. That’s enough to take it from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds — a figure more common in sports cars than pickups.
Its 29.58 kWh Blade Battery offers up to 100 km of electric-only driving, while the combined hybrid range stretches to around 800 km — potentially making long-distance trips more economical compared to traditional pickups.
Cabin and Tech
Inside, BYD has equipped the Shark 6 with comfort and tech features rarely seen in Pakistan’s pickup segment: a 25-inch LCD display, Dynaudio 12-speaker premium audio, ventilated and heated power seats, and dual-zone climate control with rear vents.
Connectivity is also well-covered, with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 50W wireless charger, and an NFC digital key for phone-based access.
Safety Package
The safety kit is equally comprehensive: Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning & Prevention, a 360° camera system, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and airbags for all seating rows.
A First for the Market
With its combination of strong performance, long range, and luxury-level features, the Shark 6 PHEV could be a game-changer in Pakistan’s pickup space. The limited-time free charger offer is likely BYD’s way of encouraging early adopters to take the plunge before the August 17 cutoff.
