Severe flooding in Sialkot and its surrounding districts brought air travel to a halt on Thursday, forcing Sialkot International Airport to suspend all flight operations for half the day.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the shutdown, stating that the airport would remain closed between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. The suspension left many passengers stranded, with several travelers forced to delay or reroute their plans.
Airport officials said flights would only resume once floodwaters recede and runway safety checks are completed. The disruption highlights how recent monsoon rains continue to strain Pakistan’s infrastructure, particularly in flood-prone areas like Punjab.
