Imran Khan, the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, has been a subject of concern as reports emerged suggesting he is being slow poisoned in prison. However, his lawyer, Shiraz Ahmad Ranjha, firmly denied these allegations, declaring them as baseless.
Express News had previously circulated allegations of Imran Khan being poisoned while in prison. Nevertheless, Ranjha, in a video statement, vehemently dismissed these rumors that were gaining traction on social media.
Ranjha made it clear that there is no truth to the claims that the PTI chairman was poisoned or under any threat of poisoning. He went on to address an incident from the previous day, emphasizing that owing to two prior assassination attempts on Imran Khan, there is a heightened concern for his safety, particularly concerning potential exposure to slow-acting poison.
Imran Khan is currently detained at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, having previously been incarcerated at Attock Jail following his conviction in the gifts repository case on August 5.
On May 9, Imran Khan, the former prime minister, faced arrest from inside the high court in Islamabad by the National Accountability Bureau on charges of corruption linked to the Al-Qadir Trust, which he owns.
Since then, he has been held at Attock District Jail and recently moved to Adiala Jail. Imran Khan maintains that he has been unjustly imprisoned in these cases and is determined to clear his name in all of them.
