MQM-P Invites Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail to Join Party

Dr. Farooq Sattar, a senior leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has extended an invitation to former finance minister Miftah Ismail to join MQM-P. Miftah had previously resigned from his role as the General Secretary of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh in June this year.

Miftah Ismail had also found like-minded individuals in former Pakistan Peoples Party leader and Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. They organized seminars and conventions, fueling speculation of a potential new political party formation.

Miftah Ismail had criticized PML-N’s economic policies, particularly during Ishaq Dar’s tenure as finance minister. His performance as finance minister in the coalition government led by PML-N had led to his replacement. Miftah Ismail expressed his grievances through various media outlets and offered insights into the nation’s economic affairs without directly implicating the party.

The meeting covered various critical topics, including economic and political crises, with a particular focus on Karachi and the upcoming general elections. Dr. Sattar emphasized the need to assemble a team of capable and committed individuals to address the challenges facing Pakistan and highlighted the importance of a unified national agenda to tackle the country’s issues effectively.

Dr. Farooq Sattar’s invitation to Miftah Ismail occurred during a meeting at Ismail’s residence in Karachi two days ago.
