PCB Clears Key Players for Overseas T20 Leagues

August 8, 2025 – Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has greenlit several top players for overseas cricket commitments, handing out no-objection certificates (NOCs) for a range of international T20 tournaments.

Among the approvals, left-handed opener Sharjeel Khan is set to head to Australia to feature in the Top End T20 Series, a competition that offers both exposure and a chance for redemption after a mixed run in domestic cricket.

Meanwhile, seasoned campaigners Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir have been cleared to compete in The Hundred in England. Both players have retired from Pakistan’s international setup but remain active in franchise cricket, often bringing experience and balance to teams in shorter formats.

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will also have a Pakistani presence, with Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, and Iftikhar Ahmed all receiving PCB approval. This move comes as no surprise, especially for Naseem, whose pace has become a hot commodity in global leagues.

In the subcontinent, Faheem Ashraf and Khushdil Shah have been given the green light for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Both are likely to use the platform to regain form and maintain match fitness as Pakistan prepares for a packed international calendar in the coming months.

The PCB’s decision to allow players participation in foreign leagues reflects a broader shift toward supporting franchise opportunities—provided they don’t clash with national duties. With the growing significance of global T20 leagues, such moves help players stay sharp and expand their skillsets across varying conditions.
